It feels great to be back in the swing of things as a junior. As my first project this year I was given the opportunity to work with HEC-TV again for their new show Explore! This show explores what your food goes through to get to your table, all the way from the farm to the market. And it also highlights healthy eating habits. As a part of this show I made 3 short factoids that focused on calories, food, and exercise. The factoids were easy and simple to make and my main goal was to make them conversational and easy to watch as a grade schooler (our audience). I like that HEC-TV is incorporating healthy eating habits into this show because during that stage in life, that is when the main habits are formed.
The fourth video I made this month was a package on an urban chicken farmer. I went with the (wonderful) HEC-TV crew to EarthDance farms and shot my intro and some b-roll. Then, the next day met up with them again at the Tower Grove Farmers Market. I think the video came out really well! I like the differences of shots and my storytelling. However, there were some issues that I NEED to improve on for next month: 1) i would like to be able to go handheld without it being too shaky 2) I feel like I can get more conversational (and not as stiff) with my intro 3) being ahead of it, there were minute details (like exporting correctly) that slipped, and If I want to be professional, those small details, like taking pictures and uploading on time will make or break a career. Overall, I am very proud of what I produced and accomplished in less than a month. If I can be more prepared I know that It can only make me better :) .
- Special thanks to the lovely Jacqui Poor and Tim Gore at HEC-TV, they are the true definition of professional mentors.
