Earlier in november, 5 broadcasters including myself went to Boston for the JEA conference! On our first day there, we took an advanced broadcast bootcamp. During this bootcamp we had about 4 and a half hours to go, find a story, shoot it, edit it, then present it. My partner Reis and I drew a word out of a cup for reference, we got learning. Ok, easy enough, we are in a conference and learning is happening all around us. But there wasn't a story. There wasn't anything interesting and fresh. I refused to shoot one more shot of someone writing on a piece of paper! So we took a walk. In the middle of Boston! and not long we came across this food truck! My philosophy is 1) find a story 2) find a lively character 3) spin it the way you need it. We one, found this cute food truck with an interesting back story, two, definitely found a character, RUSSEL, and finally, we were able to turn it into the angle of learning. The people were so nice and inviting. They let me try some of the food and let us in the truck! They even waited till I came back that night to give me a monopod I left there! It was so fun and I hope to have another experience like it again!
