My most recent video follows a local dentist turned pilot in his passion of flying! I heard about this story through my teacher a few months prior, however, the weather was terrible. The second spring started to arrive, I knew I had to do this story. So I filmed this piece in early April at the Creve Cour Airport, right outside of St. Louis. Dr. Wat's knowledge and love for flight is infectious. Right away he showed me the vast, and very impressive, hangers full of vintage planes and memorabilia that the airport holds. Some planes even dated back to the 1920's! To think that most of those planes still fly today is astonishing.
But what was even more moving was the dentist's words. He not only knew the background of dozens of planes, but he actively wants to teach people about it! He wants the younger generation to become enthralled in aviation just as much as himself. When Douglas Watanabe takes flight, he immediately gains freedom. His favorite feeling? "The nostalgia of being in something so timeless." It was a pleasure to cover this story and I give so many thanks to Dr. Watanabe for sharing his passion with me.
